Beaming from the top spot on the New York Post website
Saturday morning was adult superstar Asa Akira, of whom the outlet ran
an extensive feature detailing her upbringing and lifelong ambition of
pursuing a porn career, all in promotion of her new memoir, Insatiable: Porn - A Love Story.
While the Big Apple news source made none of the eager effort it put forth recently with Belle Knox
to divulge Akira's legal name, it did angle for a salacious tidbit or
two about the 2013 AVN Female Performer of the Year, such as that the
names of her over 300 movies are all "too filthy to reproduce here."
(Guess when writer Susannah Cahalan was researching the piece on the Internet Adult Film Database, as her story mentions, she missed a few of Akira's titles, like Underworld, Pure, Summer Lovin', Snow White XXX, Wolverine XXX, Speed, One, Party Girls, Nurse Jobs, Not Animal House XXX, Roomates, Romantic Fantasies, Pretty in Pink, Pornstar Superheroes, The Masseuse, Happy Endings, Too Good to Be True, I Am Asa Akira 1 & 2, and oh yeah, Asa Akira Is Insatiable 1, 2 & 3).
Not that the story isn't positive—to the contrary, it paints
Akira as overwhelmingly successful and happy, positing that her porn
work has earned her a net worth of over $1.5 million and quoting her
from her book as saying that her chosen profession has "shaped me into a
woman I had always hoped I would be. I've become more confident, more
empowered, more sure of myself than I've ever been. There's nothing else
I'd rather be doing."
Insatiable: Porn - A Love Story
officially releases May 6 from Grove/Atlantic Inc. It can be ordered now
